What is Déjà Vu?

2025-10-19 17:14:52 13

Déjà vu is a French term derived from “déjà” (already) and “voir” (to see), meaning “already seen.” It refers to the sudden and unexpected sensation that a person has already experienced the present moment before. Research suggests that around 90% of people experience déjà vu at least five times in their lifetime.

Many scholars believe that déjà vu may stem from mystical forces, such as reincarnation.

The study of déjà vu began in the early 1950s, when researchers used electrical stimulation to explore which areas of the brain are responsible for this phenomenon. In the 1970s, scientists discovered that déjà vu could be artificially induced by stimulating the medial temporal region of the brain with electrodes.

Young adults between the ages of 20 and 35 are more likely to experience déjà vu. Some proponents of quantum philosophy suggest that we may exist simultaneously in multiple parallel realities, and that déjà vu could represent a brief “energy crossover” between these parallel versions of ourselves — as if, for an instant, you sense an event being lived by another version of you.
